Who we are
The Village Ecumenical Ministries (VEM) 3-2-02 Carthage Fire Relief  is a task force that resulted from a community meeting held March 6, 2002 between area churches, community organizations, Carthage Village officials, and relief agencies to share concerns and ideas on how to respond to those affected by the Carthage Fire on March 3, 2002.  This task force desires to express the concern and compassion of Christ to the displaced families and individuals who were affected by the Fire. Our primary goal is to centralize help to these people affected by the fire in reestablishing their households by the replacement of commonly accepted household items.  This will be done through a call center where they can call and set-up an appointment to have their needs assessed.  We will then do our best to match those needs with both donations we receive and by using other available resources.  We will also do our best to help them find appropriate resources for needs that may be beyond our ability to meet.

Mathew 25:35-36  "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me..."

2 Corinthians 1:3-4.  "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
